August

I just realized that this is my first post in August. Why is it already the 23rd?? ugh. Sometimes time goes by way too fast.

I'm trying to think what we've been up to in August so far and why it's nearing the end of the month already. We must've been busy, I guess.

Well most recently, our poor kiddo has been sick with Croup & a double ear infection. he felt and looked miserable for a couple days - we just wanted to cry for him. He woke up last Wednesday with a reall hoarse voice, and I just figured he was coming down with a cold b/c he wasn't showing any other symptoms at that point. After dinner on Wednesday we could see it in his eyes that he didn't feel good, and sure enough, Connor had a fever. Thankfully, he got a good night's sleep, but I did hear him cough a few times during the night. And then on Thursday morning when he woke up he had this terrible bark-like cough, and he was also wheezing. It sounded horrible. We knew it must be Croup. Poor thing. At his Dr appt that afternoon it was confirmed that he had Croup. He also had a double ear infection.

His meds kicked in pretty quickly and by Friday afternoon Connor's Croup cough and wheezing were gone. Thankfully. The Dr was super close to admitting Connor to the hospital for the night b/c he was wheezing so bad and therefore having a hard time breathing. He was still holding a low fever, though, and had developed a cold on top of all this. His nose was runny for the rest of the weekend, and he was also coughing a lot.

This is what most of Thursday & Friday consisted of:

He spent a lot of time lounging on the couch or on our chests while he wasn't feeling good. We're glad our baby is almost back to his normal self and feeling much better now.

Let's see...what else have we been up to in August?

We finally made it to Kelly's pool a couple times. The first time Connor wasn't diggin' it b/c he had his crabby pants on that day. But the 2nd time we went he did great. He enjoyed the water and was even putting his own face in the pool. I thought that was a pretty big step for him. Oh, and I'm gonna be signing me & Connor up for 'mommy & me' swimming lessons for the fall. To say I'm excited is an understatement. I love swimming & I want Connor to love it too. It starts in September and goes into November. Woot woot!

8.6.10 - I was lucky enough to get 2 free passes to the MN Zoo courtesy of the Museum Adventure Pass Program, so my mom & I went with Connor on a Friday since Bryce didn't get his summer hours that week. Connor rode the tractor to the farm there for the first time. I think his favorite animals at the zoo were the Grizzly Bears.

8.7.10 - We made it to the St. Paul Farmer's Market at the beginning of the month for Ruth Ann's bday. It's a fun market with all sort of fruits, veggies, flowers, treats, salsa, meats, etc. Connor spotted raspberries that he had to have and ate the whole box by himself, besides the 5 or less that he shared with me & Gramma Jo. Ha!

8.7.10 - That evening my parents were bringing Shayla & Nathan to Stepping Stone Park, so we decided to meet them there for a little bit. I know I've said this before, but I seriously love that park - and Connor loves it more and more each time we go too.

8.16.10 - After dinner this night, we decided to do something different than taking our usual walk, or going to the park by our house and took Connor to Chutes & Ladders for the first time. I remember it being such a huge park and figured I'd think it was much smaller than I remembered...but no, it's still huge. Connor always tends to do more people-watching than playing, but we were still glad that we went.

I really hate that the summer is practically over. We had a lot of fun. I am looking forward to the fall though. Not only does it bring cooler and less humid weather, but it also means that we have a fun Labor Day Weekend coming up, the state fair, Nathan's bday, our trip to Cali, Nate & Jackie moving back to MN, Sever's Corn Maze (Chris & Raquel - we'd love for you guys to join us again!), and Halloween. Oh, and we'll get to meet baby Redman as well :)

We hope everyone has had a nice August as well!
